Each June, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) athletes and staff compete in Sufferfest. This bike race takes place near Sundance Resort in Utah (not far from USSA home base in Park City), starting at the bottom of the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway and climbing over eight miles up Provo Canyon. The race is open to all USSA athletes and staff with handicaps in place based on previous race results, physical testing results, bike time up Sundance during training and some common sense. From the article on USSA.org: “If you have an Olympic medal in nordic combined, you are going to start last,” joked USSA Strength and Conditioning Coordinator Mike Bahn. “I don’t care what the bike test says.”
I was asked to design a commemorative jersey for sale at the event, as well as special jerseys to award to the male and female winners. I produced the designs as vector artwork, which were then supplied to DNA Cycling for production of the shirts.
