Here’s what’s new:
- I’m now a certified Yin Yoga teacher. Thanks to a course in Duluth with Miriam Hanson. Who’s in for a class?
- I didn’t run that half marathon, last June. A rolled ankle in March sidelined it, but it healed fairly quickly. Which is great, because it allowed me to enjoy a lot of hikes with Steve and the dogs in Oregon, in September.
- After taking a break from powerlifting this summer and enjoying the fun group strength classes with Tami at Vera Fitness, I’m back to slinging iron, working with Angela Nguyen. We are working together remotely, while I’m in New Mexico and training at Iron Soul Gym.
- The strength work I’ve been doing the last couple years has been great for my rock climbing! I love feeling so much stronger and mobile on the walls/the rocks. I got outside to climb twice this summer, at Taylor’s Falls with my climbing friends Josh, Joe, Mike and Gaby. It rocked!
- My mission to spend more time on, in or near water this summer was a success, though it went a little differently than planned.
- Plan was: take rowing class and get on a standup paddleboard
- Reality was: Mississippi River was too full and fast to complete the course: we never rowed on the river. And on the day I planned to take a SUP lesson on Lake Minnetonka, it was too cold and the lake had a bacteria problem.
- However! We did many hikes near the Pacific Ocean in September. My friend Rita had us up to her Wisconsin cabin and not only did I get into the lake! I got onto a paddleboard, Rollo got in the water (a first for this 3-year old Standard Poodle), and Rollo also rode the paddleboard with me! Later, my friend Amy invited me along on an overnight sailing adventure in the Apostle Islands, on a gorgous fall weekend. Way more water fun than planned.

I’m feeling blessed, and have plenty to talk about but for today, I wanted to share a few photos and anecdotes from the summer. Thanks for reading!
