See that? Yep. Snow, low sun, naked trees, semi-freddo river. Probably a few woodpeckers are in this shot, somewhere (they were sounding like a scattered drum corps, whenever I stopped to listen). Me and nearly no other humans were out enjoying the beauty on Pike Island, yesterday. It was 13 degrees out, with no wind. I was exerting just enough effort to stay warm, on my cross-country skis. Warm, not sweaty. Zone 2-3 cardio work.

Once again I’m amazed to realize how few people enjoy some of my favorite pastimes.
